If you’ve never heard of Arctic Zero, you’re missing out! This is my full review of the brand and their flavors.

The only time I’d ever even heard of Arctic Zero was simply seeing SO many people on Instagram just RAVING about how awesome it was. While in Sprout’s a few weeks ago picking up a few things for a recipe, I came across the brand and decided to buy a pint for myself (yes, myself) to see what all of the hype was about.

Oddly enough, about a week later I received an e-mail from someone from the company explaining that they have released some new flavors and were wondering if I’d like to sample to the new flavors..uhmmmm did I even have to think about it!? No, of course I would love to try free ice cream! Who turns down free ice-cream!?

This is what they sent me:

So it came in a big white box, but inside, everything was wrapped in a big Tiffany-Blue bow, and there was a handwritten note! Brownie points for the cuteness for sure.
They sent me five different flavors, and it also came with a super-adorable ice-cream scoop inscribed with their logo. More brownie points. I like cute things.

The five flavors they sent me were: Brownie Blast, Cake Batter, Snickerdoodle Dandy, Poppin’ Pomegranate, and Banana Pudding.

What is Arctic Zero?

Arctic Zero Frozen Desserts are fat-free, gluten-free, lactose-free, low-calorie, GMO-free and low glycemic. Sounds like A LOT doesn’t it!? Is it too good to be true?? With a lot of brands, it is.
My first thought when I see this many ingredient-“free” things in a brand of food I think to myself, okay well then what IS in it?! And usually it’s something just as equally unhealthy, if not more unhealthy than the regular ingredient.

Arctic Zero uses Whey Protein as the main ingredient, but it’s filtered so that it’s lactose free…Didn’t even know that was a thing.

My Flavor Review

I’ll go through each flavor and tell you what I thought about each one and which ones are my favorites and definitely recommend. I’m terrible at describing flavors, but try to stay with me! Each pint is approximately 4 servings.

1. Brownie Blast

This was the first pint to be finished. Hands down my favorite. I’ll eat just about anything that resembles the taste of chocolate or is covered with anything that resembles chocolate. I love love love love chunky ice-cream. Especially when it’s chocolate. This one has little chocolate chips and brownie pieces in it. TO DIE FOR.

The macros (per serving) are: 75 calories (300 total), 1.5g fat, 11g carbs, 3g protein

2. Snickerdoodle Dandy

I don’t know what a “snickerdoodle” is, nor have I ever tried it but this stuff is DAMN good. Kind of like…cinnamon-y? Cinnamon-y deliciousness. Two thumbs up.

The macros (per serving) are: 75 calories (300 total), 1.5g fat, 11g carbs, 3g protein

3. Poppin’ Pomegranate

If you’re not much into the chocolate or cake flavors and prefer light fruity ice-cream, this is for you! I like fruity ice-cream every now and then when the time is right but typically I opt for something that I can pretend is a chocolate bar or some kind of pastry. But for fruit-lovers, this is totally up your alley. Creamy and a super light taste. Really good! I just like when there are chunks in my ice-cream…for whatever reason.

The macros (per serving) are: 35 calories (150 total), 0g fat, 7g carbs, 3g protein

4. Banana Pudding

Okay sooo this one I was not a fan of. I think I’d be able to put this in a recipe with other flavors, like a banana split? Or with Graham Crackers or something, but I’m not a fan of it by itself… but I also don’t like bananas by themselves either. Maybe mixing it with PB2 or even using it in a smoothie would be good! But banana-lovers, have at it! This one is also chunky, with little bits of ‘Vanilla Wafer crumble’, which saves it for me, I still really couldn’t get into it though.

The macros (per serving) are: 75 calories (300 total), 1.5g fat, 11g carbs, 3g protein.

5. Cake Batter

I’m still on the fence with this one. When I think about cake batter I think of the Birthday Cake flavor of FroYo. This is yellow-cake flavored and it definitely tastes…I don’t know, yellow. If you can imagine yellow cake. No, not like it’s lemon-y, but just extra yellow? You’ll see what I mean when you try this. And this one is creamy, so no chunkies here!

The macros (per serving) are: 35 calories (140 total), 0g fat, 7g carbs, 3g protein

They recommend leaving it out of the freezer for like 10 minutes or so before eating, which I’d agree with, because it’s like eating a cold deliciously flavored rock if you don’t wait. They’re all really good, and definitely taste just like the FroYo you’d go out and get, only like 10x healthier for you.
It all tastes great, but can we just talk about their packaging for a second!? SO CUTE. I didn’t even want to throw it away…#graphicdesignerproblems.

Other Flavors & Where to buy:

You can find these online, at Sprout’s, Wal-Mart, King Soopers, Safeway, Whole Foods… but you can use their Store Locator to find places near you.
They also have SO MANY other flavors.
Chunky flavors: Cool Mint Chip, Cookie Dough Chip, Buttery Pecan.
Creamy flavors: Purely Chocolate, Vanilla Maple, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Hint of Mint, Cookie Shake, Cappuccino, Salted Carmel, Toasted Coconut, and Orange Dream.
I want them alllllllllllllll.

Final Thoughts

I am an Arctic Zero fan! I think it’s great, and they are macro-friendly, and you get a great low-calorie treat without having to sacrifice for something that is equally not as good for you. So for me, I have a killer sweet tooth, but this is something I can indulge in without feeling guilty for giving into the cravings. I’ll definitely be buying these. Because it uses whey protein as one of the main ingredients, you expect it to taste griddy or “chalky”, because so many “healthy” desserts that use this kind of protein taste that way, but surprising, it doesn’t. Now does it taste just like homemade or Ben and Jerry’s? No. But pretty damn close! Let me put it this way… if you’re a healthy eater all the time and don’t indulge in sweets regularly, then yes it does taste just as good as Ben and Jerry’s.

All around a way better alternative and a great brand in general.

Can’t wait to put some macro-friendly dessert recipes together using these! Stay tuned for those!
