I have several new skincare products that I just recently picked up that I’m excited to share with you!

Your skin is like working out, you have to switch things up every now and then or the products stop becoming effective. Though I loved the products I was previously using, about every 3 months or so, I find that I need to switch up my skincare routine, for the simple fact that the products stop working for me. I always know when it’s time to switch things up when my skin starts to get dry and flaky again.

Now, I’m not proud of how much I have recently spent on skincare products. I truly believe that if you’re going to splurge on one thing, it should be skincare to be able to get great, high quality ingredients that truly work for your skin.

My skin is incredibly dry, sensitive, and acne prone – basically the triple-threat of suck. Finding skincare products that don’t dry me out, don’t break me out, and don’t make my skin hate me is a very challenging task. Even using multiple products outside of a simple routine irritates it. And this is coming from a licensed esthetician that gets a high from using an abnormally large amount of skincare products.

My skin goals are to minimize signs of aging (of course), keep occasional cystic acne breakouts at bay, and combat the redness and hyperpigmentation (post-break out dark spots that will remain anywhere from 3-6 months) that I have on my cheeks. I also want to be sure that my skin stays hydrated, especially living in Colorado where it’s dry AF all year round. Sounds like a tall order from a skincare product.

Well, with that tall order come some expensive-ass products that I’m hoping will do the trick.

Enter Sunday Riley.

New Skincare Additions - Sunday Riley

If you’re in the beauty scene and haven’t heard of Sunday Riley’s products, you might as well be living under a rock. The hype is everywhere. And with the large hype, comes a hefty price tag.

I picked up two serums from Sephora, the Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Serum and the Luna Sleeping Night Oil. I also managed to pick up two moisturizers, Philosophy’s Renewed Hope in a Jar SPF 30 (for the day time), and Belif’s The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb (for the evenings – also a SUPER hyped product).

SUNDAY RILEY GOOD GENES ALL-IN-ONE LACTIC ACID TREATMENT

WHAT IT CLAIMS | For dry, oily, normal and combination skin types and claims to be a solution for dullness and uneven texture, dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles.

“Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment is formulated with high potency, purified grade lactic acid that immediately exfoliates dull, pore-clogging dead skin cells, revealing smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin. Fine lines appear visually plumped while the skin looks more radiant. With continued use, the appearance of stubborn hyperpigmentation and the visible signs of aging are reduced for a healthier-looking complexion. Perfect for all skin types and all ages, this treatment is enhanced with licorice for brightening, Good Genes clarifies, smooths, and retexturizes for instant radiance. “

HOW TO USE IT | Apply one to two pumps to clean skin.

Advanced tips:

  • Layer under Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream to fight the appearance of stubborn hyperpigmentation.
  • Layer on top of Luna Sleeping Night Oil (or use Good Genes in the morning and Luna at night) for anti-aging radiance and the appearance of healthy, youthful-looking skin.
  • Can be applied under foundation as a radiance primer, without any oiliness.
  • Can be combined with Ceramic Slip (two pumps of Good Genes and one pump Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser) for a “Flash Facial” mask.
  • Leave on for one to 10 minutes for an immediately radiant, deep detox facial.

SUNDAY RILEY LUNA SLEEPING NIGHT OIL

A next-generation retinol oil that boosts the look and feel of skin plumpness, while improving the appearance of wrinkles, redness, and pores for visibly younger-looking skin.

WHAT IT CLAIMS | For dry, oily, normal and combination skin types and claims to be a solution for fine lines and wrinkles, dryness and rough texture, pores.

“Luna works throughout the night to deliver more visibly youthful, luminous, even-toned skin in the morning. Trans-retinoic acid ester (retinol) complex reduces the appearance of pores and wrinkles, while visibly improving the signs of premature aging, including fine lines, uneven texture, age spots, dryness, and dullness. Balanced with blue tansy and German chamomile essential oils—both rich in soothing, blue azulene—the look of redness and sensitivity are visibly balanced for a calm, even-toned complexion. Luna is clinically proven to improve the appearance of fine lines, radiance, and skin smoothness in as little as four weeks, while advanced retinol ester mixed with potent botanicals makes this product the ultimate transformational, soothing, sleeping night oil.”

HOW TO USE IT | I have been using this treatment in conjunction with the Luna Sleeping Night Oil every other night for the past couple of weeks. For sensitive skin types, you want to be sure you’re introducing new products slowly to avoid irritation and excessive dryness.
